International Summer School 2024
Join our international summer school from July 15th to July 24th 2024 on the topic “Engineering Sustainability” and to get to experience all aspects of studying at TH Lübeck!
Interdisciplinary courses will be taught in English and are designed to challenge and inspire you. Our program also includes cultural excursions, social events as well as opportunities to explore the city of Lübeck and the surrounding areas. You will have the chance to meet and network with regional companies and other students from all over the world.

Note: We do not require proof of your English proficiency level. However, we recommend that you have at least a B2 level of English proficiency to ensure that you can follow the lectures.
What are the next steps?
1. We will confirm that your application has been received and review your documents.
2. We will send out the acceptance letters via email, so please check your emails frequently. If you have been accepted, we kindly ask you to send us a binding confirmation stating that you will be attending the summer school.
3. Make sure to book your accommodation on time. We recommend staying at Youth Hostel “Altstadt”. The youth hostel is located right in the center of Lübeck's old town. This unique and central location allows you to easily walk to all the sights in Lübeck. You will stay in shared rooms (2 or 3 bed-rooms) with other students participating in our summer school. Prices for a 2-bed-room is 38 € per person/night and for a 3-bed-room it is 33,50 € per person/night. The 3-bed-room will only be used in case of an uneven number of female or male students. Breakfast is included and offered from 7:30 to 9:30 AM. Rooms are available from July 13th to July 25th, depending on your arrival date. For reservation please contact the youth hostel directly. The rooms are reserved under the code “summer@THL”. Please mention the code in your reservation request. The payment will be due upon arrival at the youth hostel.
Attention: Rooms are only reserved until April 15th! We are not able to provide you with any accommodation past that date and you will have to take care of an accommodation on your own.

4. After you have been accepted by TH Lübeck and have bindingly confirmed your spot, you will need to pay a participation fee in the amount of 225 € after receiving the invoice. This fee includes all social activities, company visits, a welcome breakfast, last evenings BBQ as well as courses and study materials. Personal expenses, such as meals, accommodation, travel costs (arrival/departure and on site) or insurance are not included in the fee. We advise you to take care of your travel arrangements such as flights, insurance, visa etc. as soon as possible afterwards.
5. We will provide you with all the necessary information for your stay in Lübeck in advance and looking forward to you.
FAQ
- Who can apply to our summer school?
The main target group are undergraduate students from TH Lübeck as well as from our international partner universities. Graduate students are also welcome to join us. Since sustainability is an interdisciplinary topic, our summer school is suitable for students from diverse academic backgrounds and studies.
- Are there any social activities planned?
Oh yes, we have a variety of activities planned. You will not be disappointed. The summer school attaches great importance to a social program, therefore the lectures will end in the early afternoon each day. We offer a variety of excursions, networking events, company visits, a cultural program and much more. For more details please look into the program above.
- How many ECTS are awarded?
For the participation in our summer school 3 ECTS are awarded.
- Will there be any accommodation provided?
We recommend staying at the Youth Hostel “Altstadt” as we have already reserved rooms for you from July 13th to July 25th, depending on your arrival. Please ensure to book the room and make the payment on your own.

- Am I eligible for financial aid?
We can award a limited number of financial aid packages for international students that will cover fixed rates for travel costs as well as 39 €/day during their stay. Decisions will be made according to the quality of your application (letter of motivation, transcript of records). You will find further details in the application documents.
