Prevention for business startups
Project duration: 2016 – 2019
Project partner: Technische Hochschule Lübeck, Beuth Hochschule Berlin, Leuphana Universität Lüneburg, Bildungswerk der Wirtschaft in Berlin und Brandenburg e.V., ccvossel GmbH, Berlin.
Project background
Digitization is boosting start-up dynamics. For the growing number of startups, the combination of high workloads, existential uncertainty and pressure of responsibility poses significant stress and health risks. This so-called interested self-endangerment often continues in the course of the start-up and becomes an implicit corporate culture. The fact that this can endanger the company's success in the long term has been proven many times over. Traditional workplace prevention and health promotion programs have so far failed to reach this target group adequately. What is needed are approaches to raise awareness among founders of the need for health prevention and promotion, as well as practical and effective prevention solutions that evolve with the life cycle of the company.
Project goal
The project integrates the topic of health as early as the start-up phase of the company. To this end, a digitally supported prevention program is being developed, the special feature of which is that it can be adapted to the subsequent phases of the company's life, starting with the founding phase. While in the start-up phase it initially addresses the company founder as a person in a behavior-oriented manner, in later development phases it includes further behavior-oriented modules for employees as well as modules for the health-oriented design of organizational structures and work processes (relationship-oriented). Digital applications (e.g., health checks, exercise programs) are being developed that are compatible with interactive presence offerings of occupational health management. To ensure a high degree of fit of the offering, 10 digital economy companies (understood as companies with integrated IT technology) founded via the practice partner bbw e.V. will be gradually integrated into the development process of the prevention offerings from the start of the project. The developed components will be tested in the companies in different phases of the life cycle and accompanied by ongoing process evaluation and outcome evaluation to assess the user-friendliness and effectiveness of the integrative prevention program.
Target group
The online offerings are aimed at employees and managers in young companies.
