Background
The European Digital Innovation Hub Schleswig-Holstein (EDIH.SH) is an innovation ecosystem for sustainable digital innovations and solutions.
EDIH-SH offers concrete service offerings for small and medium-sized enterprises and public organizations in Schleswig-Holstein. The service offerings of EDIH.SH aim to support companies and public administration organizations to create new digital solutions on product and process level, where sustainability aspects are considered in the innovation and implementation process.
A wide range of competencies, ideas and creativity come together with in-depth technological know-how. The aim of the project is to exploit digitization sustainably. The focal points are:
- Technology and innovation management
- Data & Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Interoperability (networking of hardware and software systems)
- Information security (cybersecurity)
- Internet of Things (IoT) & sensor technology
- Digitalization competencies (e.g. process design, work 4.0)
The European Digital Innovation Hub Schleswig-Holstein is funded by the European Union and the Ministry of Economics, Transport, Labor, Technology and Tourism of the State of Schleswig-Holstein.
Objective and Approach
The goal of the European Digital Innovation Hub Schleswig-Holstein (EDIH.SH) is to help small and medium-sized enterprises, public administration and start-ups to implement digitization projects. The EDIH.SH is intended to help make Schleswig-Holstein a digital showcase region and to achieve both digital administrative innovation and structured and rapid digitization in Schleswig-Holstein.
The Lübeck University of Technology and the CoSA Competence Center is responsible for setting up and further developing a further education and competence network for Schleswig-Holstein. Online self-tests are to be developed as a service with the help of a technical platform. These tests include assessments for digital readiness, digital workplace, sustainability and cybersecurity for SMEs and public administration. The goal is to build and launch a virtualized machine learning infrastructure. This platform will then be used to offer capacity building, in the form of qualifications and training opportunities. The offerings that will be developed include the following areas:
- Provision of an overarching online platform for searching and accessing corporate benefit offerings.
- Training workshops on the use of AI/Edge AI systems in various application areas
- Workshops/seminars/transfer coaching
- on the use of digital twins in various fields of application
- on economic efficiency
- To improve cybersecurity and secure collaboration in various application areas.
In addition, Edge AI will be used in industrial distributed applications and in the public sector. For this purpose, (wearable) demonstrators are developed for the application fields AI, Internet of Things (IoT), networking, VR/AR technologies, digital twin and Industry 4.0.
Another important component of the project is to provide support in the search for investors and to offer consulting services in this sense. This includes, among other things, needs-oriented initial consulting, (pre-)economic feasibility studies, preparation of financial plans, payback calculations and cost-benefit analyses, individual assessments of sustainability management (competition-oriented sustainability check) and matchmaking events.
